ST. PAUL COMMUNITY CEMETERY

The St. Paul Community Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at noon on Saturday, May 4, at the St. Paul Church parsonage, 212 FM 2307, Marlin, TX. Local members are asked to bring their favorite dish for a shared lunch. For more information, please call (254) 883-8243.

 

FALLS COUNTY FREE TRASH DAY

Falls County Free Trash Day will be held at two locations - Marlin and Lott on May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon or until dumpsters are full. Tire Disposal - you unload. No tractor tires, no tires with rims. No commercial company tires.  Falls County Jail Site, 2847 Hwy. 6, Marlin and Waste Collection Station, 330 S. Hwy. 77, Lott. Must be a Falls County Resident. Batteries, Appliances & Brush (no larger than 3” in diameter) Will Be Accepted. No Chemicals - No Hazardous Waste - No Roofing Materials.

 

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY

The public is invited to fellowship with the Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church Family as they celebrate the 8th Pastoral Anniversary of Pastor Vincent K. Hartsfield and First Lady Latisha Hartsfield. The recognition celebration is Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m. This is the first afternoon program since COVID. Pastor Anthony Harper and the New Hope Church Family of Bremond will be the special guests. Marlin Baptist Church is located at 507 Bennett and George Streets. Dinner will be served. SHRIMP BOIL

The Marlin Volunteer Fire Department will have a shrimp boil fundraiser on May 5 from 11 a.m. until sold out at the station, 3172 State Hwy 6 in Marlin. Cost is $20 per plate for shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage. Support the Marlin Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser. Drive through only.

SPRING SPORTS BANQUET

The Spring Sports Banquet for Marlin ISD will be on May 16 at 6 p.m. Tickets for parents and non-student athletes can be purchased from the Marlin Athletic Booster Club for $10 per person. It will be held at the Falls County Youth Pavilion, 325 Willis Street, Marlin.

BTW Alumni Parade

The BTW Annual Alumni Parade will be held in Downtown Marlin on June 29 at 10:00 a.m. Applications for parade entries need to be turned in no later than Friday, May 31, 2024. Entries are free.

 

AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall & the Marlin Democrat News Office.

MARLIN SENIOR CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. MARLIN LIONS

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
